  Resumen La violencia de género es un término que cada vez se encuentra más integrado en las noticias de actualidad, y es que a pesar de encontrarnos en el Siglo XXI, aún continúa siendo un problema frecuente en nuestra sociedad.

  Mediante la realización de este artículo queremos identificar la figura del personal sanitario, y sobre todo la de la enfermera, en el proceso de atención a personas que sufren los malos tratos hasta que la víctima decide separarse.

  La informante del relato biográfico que se presenta en este artículo sufrió malos tratos por parte de su pareja y nos relata cómo vivió la situación, cómo afrontó esta realidad, cómo se sintió, los apoyos que recibió y de dónde sacó la fuerza para acabar con todo y tomar la decisión de separarse.

  Tanto la enfermera como el resto de profesionales que componen los equipos de atención sanitaria, e incluso los servicios sociales, se mantienen ausentes en todo este proceso. Éste hecho debería servirnos de precedente para implicarnos más en la atención de este grupo de personas, y tratarlos de manera integral y desde una perspectiva holística.

  Abstract (There is always a better future: Tale of a battered woman) Gender violence is a term that is becoming more integrated in the news, and that is that, despite being in the XXI Century, still remains a problem all too common in our society.

  The person of this story he suffered in the first person and tells us how he lived the situation. It tells how she faced the situation, how you felt, and the supports they received and where he got the strength to end it all and decides to separate.

  By performing this article we identify the figure of the medical staff, and especially the nurse, in the process retaining people suffering the abuse until the victim decides to separate.

  Both the nurse and other health personnel, and even social services remain absent in this whole process. This should serve as a precedent to become more involved in the care of patients and treat them holistically, from a holistic perspective.
