Resumen de Comportamiento del uso de anticonceptivos hormonales en un área de salud de Santiago de Cuba

  • A cross-sectional study of medication use, of the indication-prescription type with drug surveillance elements, was conducted to evaluate the use of hormonal contraceptives (HC) in female users, between 15 and 35 years old, belonging to a Healthcare area from Santiago, Cuba, for the period comprised between January and March, 2003. The HC used were described and their adequacy of use was evaluated, as well as clinical significance of adverse reactions. The data were obtained through an interview with the users. Oral contraceptives were the most used ones (66%). The inadequate use occurred in a high percentage (60%), mainly influencing the presence of moderately risky drug interactions; adverse reactions of low clinical significance were predominant
