    La intensa subjetividad que impregna toda la obra de Unamuno también se halla presente en De Fuerteventura a París. Diario íntimo de confinamiento y destierro vertido en sonetos. Está motivada tanto por las circunstancias históricas que vivió su autor, como por su necesidad vital de trascenderlas reflejando sus preocupaciones filosóficas y existenciales: la comunión con la Naturaleza, el poder creador de la palabra, la inmortalidad, la vida como continuo obrar, la alternativa realidad-ficción ...

    Al intentar reflejar la relación entre Unamuno y la Naturaleza en esta obra, advertimos que es el «alma» de la isla la que queda desentrañada y con la que se identifica el alma del poeta; este pedazo de tierra, fundido con el cielo y el mar, esta Naturaleza que le acoge y consuela, simboliza, más allá de toda materialidad, la eternidad de lo concreto, al mismo tiempo que se ofrece como imagen de una desesperanzada España. Fuerteventura y el mar aparecen como el sendero que conduce al autor a su más «sufrida y descamada» realidad.

    Pero la Naturaleza es también el interlocutor que aplaca la necesidad dialógica del autor, que consuela del dolor que le causa la imagen de una España «envilecida por la envidia», y a la que comunica su anhelo de eternidad, su deseo de permanecer, como el mar, aunque todo cambie. Y en este proceso de espiritualización llega a una «comunión mística con ella, de la que he sorbido su alma y su doctrina».

    También en la nostalgia, en el recuerdo, el poeta revive el sentimiento de la Naturaleza en un éxtasis que le reconforta y que refleja la profunda huella que el exilio ha dejado en él.

    the intense subjectivity which imbues the whole of Unamuno's work can also be found in De Fuerteventura a París. Diario íntimo de confinamiento y destierro vertido en sonetos (From Fuerteventura to París, an_intimate diary of confinement and exile expressed in sonnets). It is motivated both by _ the historical circumstances experienced by the writer and by his vital need to go beyond them, reflecting his philosophical and existential concems: The communion with Nature, the creative power ofthe words, immortality, life as continuous acting, the altemative between reality and fiction ...

    When trying to reproduce the relationship between Unamuno and Nature in this work, we realise that it is the «soul» ofthe island what becomes explained and with which the soul ofthe poet is identified; this patch ofland, merged with the sun and the sea; this Nature, which shelters and comforts him, symbolises, beyond ali materiality, the eternity ofthe concrete things, offering at the same time the image of a hopeless Spain. Fuerteventura and the sea appear as the path which leads the author to his most «endured and crude» reality.

    But Nature is also the interlocutor who softens the dialogic need of the author, who soothes the pain caused by the image of a Spain «made evil by jealousy» and to which he communicates his yearning for eternity and his wish to remain, the same as the sea, even though everything changes. In this process of spiritualization he attains a «mystic communion with it ( the sea) where I have absorbed its soul and its doctrine».

    It is also in the nostalgia, in the remembrance where the poet relives the feeling ofNature in an ecstasy which comforts him and which reflects the deep mark that the exile impressed on him.
