  • A response to the article "Privacy Pragmatism" by Craig Mundie in the March/April 2014 issue is presented, which disagrees with his assertion that advocates should focus on laws preventing the misuse of personal data rather than on laws preventing its collection. The author argues individuals are better equipped to protect their information than government organization; that individual consent should not be replaced; and that protections for data that has already been collected are insufficient in securing data from hackers or others.
