Este artículo aborda el problema de la osteoporosis y las fracturas osteoporóticas, proporcionando una visión global y, cuando es posible, regional. Se centra en su prevalencia y en el elevado número de pacientes sin diagnosticar y por tanto sin tratar, exponiendo a la vez la experiencia en el tema del equipo del que forma parte la autora, con miembros en los servicios de Medicina Interna, Traumatología y Ortopedia, y Oncología Médica del Hospital Universitario de Canarias.

This article approaches to the problem of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures, giving a global and, when possible, regional vision. It focuses on its prevalence and in the high number of patients without diagnosis and thus without treatment, showing at the same time the experience of the team formed by the author and members of Internal Medicine, Traumatology/Orthopedic and Medical Oncology services from the Canary University Hospital.
