Vanessa Félix, Luis Mena, Eber Orozco Guillén, Rodolfo Ostos

  • People with Down syndrome (DS) have a proven ability to learn, but have a specific problem that requires adapting the general rules education to their own characteristics, in order to make significant progress in their learning. However, although the use of new technologies are having a major impact on educational institutions, they have not been properly exploited in special education school systems, as still used the traditional teaching model. In this sense, experts play a role in the teaching-learning process of students with DS because the direct interaction with students through of a workbook can advance their learning according to the individual needs of each student. However, this usually results in a static material, without an attractive layout, color and other elements that increases the interest of students, and implies that the work becomes monotonous, passive and unattractive, which undoubtedly has some affect in the effectiveness of the process, especially in people with attention deficit greater. Therefore, this paper proposes the use of mobile devices as a teaching strategy to help improve the teaching-learning process in people with DS.
