    “The diplomatic profession is no longer what it used to be…” Does this statement reflect the hardships of the present or the nostalgia of times past ? An analysis of the current situation illustrates the fact that, while the diplomatic function is rapidly changing under the combined effects of the globalization process, the communications and transport revolutions, but also the expansion of its political dimension, the diplomat is adapting and is able to refashion his job according to the needs of time and place. What will happen tomorrow ? According to the author, the diplomatic profession remains an enviable position with nice days ahead.

    « Le métier de diplomate n’est plus ce qu’il était… » Cruauté du présent ? Nostalgie du passé ? L’analyse des réalités d’aujourd’hui démontre que si la fonction diplomatique se transforme rapidement, sous les effets conjugués de la mondialisation, de l’explosion de l’information, de l’accélération des transports, mais aussi de l’expansion du politique, le diplomate s’adapte et sait remodeler son métier selon les nécessités du moment et du lieu. Qu’en sera-t-il demain ? Pour l’auteur, la diplomatie reste un métier enviable, qui a encore de beaux jours devant lui.
