    While looking at the processes of shaping and enhancing the diversity of identities among RAP music's participants in Maputo city, the article analyses how the discourse is shaped around and about the MC, which has different configurations according to the time and space in which their practices and representations seer to be legitimized. However, besides denying the existence of the so called ethnical identities in such a sui generis discourse, the proposed reflection suggests an analysis on how individuals take into account and discursively articulate and sustain the construction of their identities in a global and local frame. Therefore, it is worth to mention that the collection and analysis of musical narratives, alongside With informal interviews and a documentary film of Hip-hop in Mozambique, have been methodologically fundamental for the shaping of the present article.

    Ao procurar olhar para os processos de construção e afirmação de identidades entre praticantes de música RAP na cidade de Maputo, o artigo analisa a forma como é construído o discurso em volta e sobre o MC, que ganha diferentes configurações no tempo e no espaço, em que suas práticas e representações procuram ser legitimadas. No entanto, mais do que negar o argumento de existência de identidades étnicas no discurso, sugere-se, com base na reflexão aqui feita, uma análise sobre como os indivíduos se apropriam, articulam discursivamente, num plano global e local, e sustentam a construção das identidades. Como opção metodológica, seguiram-se a recolha e análise das narrativas musicais, conversas informais e um vídeo-documentário sobre o Hip-hop em Moçambique.
