It is our purpose to study the picturebook "0 mundo num segundo" [The World in a Second], by IsabeJ Minhós Martins and Bernardo Carvalho, showing how text and image are combined to recreate the variety of the world, depicting the multiplicity of spaces, realities and contexts and how they are felt by different characters. Landscapes, cultures, traditions, routines and habits are an image of the diversity that identifties but also unites us. By fixing a particular second in time, the book depicts 23 different locations and the way they are experienced. However, the spatial location is left to the reader's interpretative capacity, by decoding the clues that each image hides I reveals.
In the final endpapers, the authors help in discovering some secrets, identifying the locations recreated in a world map. Between a travel guide and a philosophical approach to difference and diversity, the book allows multiple readings, according to the reader's competence.

Pretende-se, neste breve estudo, proceder a uma leitura do álbum ilustrado para a infância "O mundo num segundo", de Isabel Minhós Martins e Bernardo Carvalho, evidenciando a forma como texto e imagem se aliam para recriar a variedade do mundo, dando conta da multiplicidade de universos, realidades e contextos e da forma como, individualmente, são sentidos pelas diferentes personagens. Paisagens, culturas, tradições, rotinas e hábitos são o reflexo da diversidade que nos identifica e particulariza, mas também nos une. A través da cristalização de um segundo no tempo, os autores percorrem 23 locais diferentes, registando, quase fotograficamente, a forma como esse segundo é vivido. A localização espacial, contudo, fica a cargo da capacidade interpretativa do leitor, descodificando as pistas que as imagens escondem/revelam. Nas guardas finais, os autores ajudam na descoberta de alguns segredos, identificando os locais recriados num planisfério. Entre o roteiro de viagem e a abordagem filosófica da diferença, da diversidade, mas também da proximidade e da afinidade que, apesar de tudo, liga e une os povos, o livro permite múltiplas leituras, de acordo com a enciclopédia dos lei rores e os horizontes de expectativas que ativem.
