El maestre racional de Aragón en los siglos XVI y XVII

    En el estudio analizamos a los sucesivos ministros de capa y espada que disfruta- ron del oficio de maestre racional de Aragón en la época foral. Cada uno de estos oficiales supervisaba, dentro del organigrama del gobierno del patrimonio real en el territorio arago- nés, las cuentas anuales que le presentaban, amén de los bailes locales, el baile general y el lugarteniente del tesorero general, dos oficiales encargados de la gestión administrativa de los bienes reales. Para llevar a buen puerto esta actividad, el maestre racional se servía –en el siglo XVII– de una corte formada por un lugarteniente, tres coadjutores, dos asesores y un no- tario. Todos estos integrantes, que formaban parte de la clientela del rey, fueron beneficiados por el patrono con diversas mercedes (la sucesión en el oficio, la promoción a otros cargos, la concesión de pensiones...). Estamos, pues, ante unos distinguidos servidores de la realeza que ayudaron a esta a consolidar el absolutismo en tierras aragonesas.

    The study analyzed the successive swashbuckling ministers who enjoyed the office of rational master in the statutory Aragonese period. Each of these officials supervised, with- in the hierarchy of the royal government in Aragonese territory, the annual accounts which presented them, additionally to the “bailes locales”, the “baile general” and general lieu- tenant treasurer, two officers in charge of the administrative management of real property. To make a success of this activity, they used rational masters in the seventeenth century by a court composed of a lieutenant, three adjutants, two advisers and a notary. All these mem- bers, who were part of the clientele of the king, were benefited by the employer with various grants (the succession in office, promotion to other positions, the granting of pensions...). We are therefore faced with a distinguished royal servants who helped to consolidate this abso- lutism in the lands of Aragón.
