Resumen de "Pequeña nobleza" e instituciones de gobierno: una mirada desde los concejos urbanos gallegos (siglos XVII-XVIII)

este artículo analiza la presencia de la pequeña nobleza en los concejos urbanos gallegos durante los siglos xvII y xvIII. Primero llama la atención sobre los problemas de de- finición e identificación de esa “pequeña nobleza” que en españa no es una categoría riguro- sa. después explora el peso que tiene este colectivo dentro de los regimientos municipales, los mecanismos que emplean para acceder al cargo, sus peculiaridades y pautas de comporta- miento. Finalmente, se valora su actuación como gobernantes tanto en el ámbito local y pro- vincial como en el contexto de la monarquía por su condición de mediadores entre el reino y el rey. Revela alguno de los muchos beneficios que el poder y los cargos municipales les re- portaban tanto a título particular como colectivo.

This article analyzes the presence of the lower nobility in the urban councils of the kingdom of galicia during the 17th and 18th century. First it calls the attention on the prob- lems of definition and identification of this “lower nobility”, which in Spain is not a rigorous category. Then we explore the weight that this sector of the nobility has inside the municipal corporations (regimientos), the mechanisms that they use to access the office, his peculiari- ties and his guidelines of behaviour. Finally, it assesses their performance as leaders both in the local and provincial area and in the context of the monarchy for his mediators’ condition between the kingdom and the king. It reveals some of many benefits than the power and mu- nicipal offices will report them both individually and collectively.
