It is possible to check out the vision of United States made of Latin America at Seleções do Reader's Digest magazine from 1942 to 1970. The objective is to follow the aprroach that United States developed about Latin American nature, mainly the Rain Forest, seen as chaotic and weak. The Seleções option is to focus Latin American as an inferior continent. Thus, the magazine defined North-American identity and legitimized the intervention of the United States in Latin America.

Através da revista Seleções do Reader's Digest é possível captar a visão que os Estados Unidos construíram da América Latina (1942-1970). Aqui, trato do enfoque que os Estados Unidos revelam sobre a natureza latino-americana, principalmente a floresta tropical, vista como débil e caótica. Ao interiorizar o continente latino-americano, Seleções definiu a identidade norte-americana e legitimou sua ação e intervenção na América Latina.
