Engineering teaching in Mexico is experiencing renovations, which bring alongside them significant challenges to all higher education institutions in order to provide answers to society and our evermore globalized context.
In this sense, the profile for administrators must strengthen to face the aforementioned challenges, hence, with the objective of offering a solution, the National System of Technological Institutions endorses through its Educational Model an organizational design coherent with our modern times emphasizing in process management and high performance.
Based upon these propositions, the results of an investigation with a qualitative design are presented, in which an Academic Body, of recent integration in a Higher Education Institution, defines the administrative competences related with Management, in accordance with the current Educational Model and the theoretical references in the corresponding field.
The aforesaid is with the intent of encouraging a congruent articulation of the actions amongst the members of the institution in regards to its vision, and thus comply with the institutional mission in the leadership framework, team work and future visualization.
