    La indumentaria religiosa está conformada por el conjunto de prendas con el que se revisten los ministros de diferentes credos, y a veces también los fieles, en las ceremonias litúrgicas. Estas prendas presentan, con frecuencia, unas características y funciones básicamente semejantes: permiten diferenciar a los ministros de la religión y marcar su jerarquía; sirven para solemnizar y enriquecer el ceremonial litúrgico y tienen unas connotaciones simbólicas muy marcadas. La indumentaria católica constituye un buen ejemplo de estas características mencionadas.

    Religious attire is comprised of a series of garments that the ministers of different creeds, and sometimes the faithful, too, wear at liturgical ceremo- nies. The characteristics and functions of these garments are basically similar: they permit differentiating the ministers of the religion and mark their hierarchy; they are used to solemnise and enrich the liturgical ceremony and have some very marked symbolic connotations. The Catholic attire is a good example of these aforementioned characteristics.
