In this work we decided to perform a study of the biodiversity of the Presa San Pedro and surrounding areas and establish the biodiversity perception that in this area have the residents of Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, in the state of Zacatecas. This study aims to be generator of hypotheses that enable effective conservation of biotic resources that engage society through an educational actions. A floristic and faunal inventory of the area was conducted and surveys were conducted with a sample of the population. 470 species belonging to 259 genera and 75 families were identified. For the case of amphibians, six species were observed, collected and identified in five families . As reptiles, 23 species were observed, collected and identified in six families. The study of birds recorded 53 species found in 26 families. In mammals, were recorded cacomixtle, coyote, opossum, raccoon, gray fox , skunk, one rodent and one bat. It was observed the appreciation by settlers of their biological wealth and social and environmental impacts associated with their use and conservation.
