  En algunas sociedades la interpretación onírica se considera una labor lógi- ca y significativa. La explicación de este hecho se encuentra en la forma en que el mundo ha sido construido socialmente. El presente artículo se interesa por la particular articulación de estas ideas entre los ette, una sociedad indígena del norte de Colombia que le ha otorgado al fenóme- no del sueño un lugar central dentro de la vida diaria. Para este efecto, se describen y analizan ciertas nociones nativas sobre el cosmos y el fenómeno onírico. Se expone cómo, para los ette, el universo puede apre- henderse desde diferentes perspectivas que, aunque no coinciden entre sí, están estrechamente relacionadas. La forma en que los individuos experimentan el mundo mientras duermen constituye un caso espe- cial de semejante concepción. Se concluye que la principal función de la interpretación es hacer corresponder la perspectiva onírica y la perspectiva ordinaria y, así, relacionar dos niveles de aprehensión de lo real.

  In some societies it is considered that dream interpretation is a meaningful and logic task. The explanation of this fact lies within the way in which the world has been socially constructed. The present paper focuses on the shape and articulation of these ideas among the Ette, an indigenous group of North Colombia that has granted the dream experience a central place in their everyday life. For this purpose, certain native notions about cos- mos and dream experience are described and analyzed. It is exposed how, for the Ette, the universe can be apprehended from different perspectives that, although differing from each other, are closely related. The way in which individuals experience the world while asleep is a special case of this conception. Thus, it is concluded that the main function of the dream inter- pretation is to make correspond the dream perspective and the common perspective, and in this way, relate two different levels of reality awareness.
