Although Spanish Contemporary Drama has not awakened the same interest among critics in the study of the Historical Memory in Spain than narrative or film studies, its dialogue with history has been constant during the last years. The goal of this article is to study how the Spanish Contemporary playwrights, more than to denounce historical facts about the Civil War, have been focusing on how the results of the Spanish Civil War remain nowadays and define what Spain is today. In order to do that, we will use one of the earlier dramas of Laila Ripoll, El día más feliz de nuestras vidas (2001), one of the authors who has been observing more actively the survival of the Civil War as an opened wound in the modern Spain.
