Immunoglobulins are specific humoral immunity moleculesand its main physiological function is defense against extracellular microorganisms and toxins produced by various microbial agents. The study of the major classes of immunoglobulins A, G and M , specific or total is of particular interest in modern immunochemical laboratory. Thus, the characterization and quantification of these immunoglobulins are tests needed for the diagnosis and monitoring of immune deficiencies and other diseases. This project aims to determine the concentration of immunoglobulins (IgG , IgA, IgM ) . (GAM ) in children aged 1-5 years attended the Pediatric Service of the Hospital de Clinicas Santa Barbara city of Sucre, in the months of April and May of 2008 . The study adopted a descriptive observational design. For this, 45 children randomly selected from a population of 257, which were attended by the Maternal Health Insurance . (SUMI ) . Data on age, sex and residence time in the (internal and external ) were collected in hospital Patient Registration Form . GAM concentration was assessed by radial immunodiffusiontechnique. It was observed that the concentrations of the studied immunoglobulin (GAM ) varied by age . Sex influences the concentrations of IgM, immunoglobulins (G , A, M) have higher concentrations in outpatients. The mode indicates that the values of IgM ,IgG, are normal , but not the IgA which is low in most children.
