Chagas disease is distributed throughout America, from southern United States to Argentina, mostly in poor and rural areas of Central and South America. Considering this, the present study explored the prevalence of Chagas disease in pregnant women in Sopachuy Township and their communities during the period from February to May 2008. The results draw attention of the government and of the same organic institutions that comprise the department of Chuquisaca to prioritize the care and prevention of this disease.
