Trichomoniasis is a disease caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis. It is important because it is the cause of vaginitis; which is one of the most prevalent diseases in sexually active women. This organism also affects elderly men and pregnant women, as they are considered susceptible to different diseases.
This paper aimed to explore the prevalence of Trichomonas vaginalis in pregnant women attending the San Roque Hospital laboratory, Villazón 2010. The results favor the design of strategies for health promotion and prevention to prevent morbidity from this disease.
