Tuberculosis is one of the most feared diseases by man and the most deadly infectious diseases; caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Detection of Tuberculosis in Bolivia, is of major importance; that usually strikes in socio-economically disadvantaged groups, accompanying the disease malnourished individual who lives in overcrowded conditions and inadequate hygiene. The most affected organs are the lungs; but can also damage the kidneys, bone, lymph nodes.
Therefore, the purpose of that study was to determine the prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis by sputum smear microscopy serial respiratory symptoms in patients attending the "Carmen Lopez" Hospital in the years 2006 and 2007.
