    El 29 de octubre de 1914 la ley 53 organizó el Servicio Nacional de Medicina Legal, pero desde el Descubrimiento, la Conquista, la Colonia, la Independencia y las primeras décadas de la República se conocen algunas actuaciones médico-legales que se diferenciaban del empirismo corriente en esos años. A finales del siglo XIX y segunda década del siglo XX, hasta la promulgación de la ley, la Academia de Medicina de Medellín y la Academia Nacional de Medicina iniciaron, de manera sistemática, los esfuerzos para medicalizar los dictámenes periciales. En este artículo se hace un relato histórico del desarrollo de la Medicina Legal, tanto en lo normativo nacional, teniendo en cuenta la legislación en lo penal, civil, contencioso administrativo y laboral, así como lo sucedido en el departamento de Antioquia y su capital.

    In october the 29th of 1914 the 53th law established the Medicina Legal National Service, but since the Spanish conquer, colony, the independence and the earlier years of the Republic are known some scientifics acts that made the difference from the regular empiricism of those years. From the end of the XIX century and the second decade of the XX century, to the Law promulgation, the Academias de Medicina de Medellín and the Academia Nacional de Medicina, started systematically the efforts to put in medical terms experts concepts. This paper tells the history of the development of the legal medicine as in the national aspect normative; as the happened in the local aspect.
