In times of crisis schools are called upon to remedy the social ills to likewise they are expected to help reduce crime. However, this view does not take into account the over whelming limiting structure and social processes that surround the schools which impede realizing their basic mission of educating the young. First, multibillion organized economy that serves as an alternative outlet from unemployment for the young of popular urban sectors.On the other hand, school´s ethos of authoritarian discipline and senseless routine clashes with the cultural of defiance, macho of the urban popular youth, which deters then form staying in schools. however in the economy of crime they find a life style of defiance, violance and adventure which is attuned to their culture and behavioral orientation.
