Resumen de Mesianismo y profetismo en Portugal y Castilla (c.1380-1430): Notas para su estudio

Este artículo estudia las características de algunos mensajes proféticos y mesiánicos de tipo político en las crónicas y otros textos literarios de Castilla y Portugal durante la época del Cisma de Occi dente (1378-1417). Se analiza la influencia cultural procedente de la corona de Aragón y se expone la función que desempeñan las profecías políticas y los mensajes mesiánicos en la legitimación de las nuevas dinastías, los Trastámara en Castilla y los Avís en Portugal. Se analiza también el papel que en ocasiones se atribuye a los franciscanos.

This article looks at the characteristics of some prophetic and messianic messages of a political na ture in the Chronicles and other literary texts of Castile and Portugal during the time of the Western Schism (1378-1417). The cultural influence of the Crown of Aragon is analyzed and described the role played by political prophecies and messianic messages in the legitimization of the new dynasties, the Trastámara in Castile and the Avis in Portugal. Also analyzes the role that sometimes is attributed to the Franciscans
