  • Resumen
    • The new Gulf cities, or the horizons of Abu Dhabi.

New city, Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, appears as an atypical terrain of research. At the crossroads of several cultures, it intends to embody a new urban model, and from this viewpoint has recently undertaken spectacular buildings projects -several museums are notability in the midst of being constructed. This article discusses the question of a history of present day cities. The acceleration of buildin over the past half century has produced a sufficient number of events and buildings to provide food for thought and multidisciplinary studies. Discussed in turn are the historiographies of Abu Dhabi, architectural and urban plans, the current development of the consideration as national heritage of a part of the construction of the 1980s, the relation Orient/Occident underlying most of the projects, and finally the presence of French architects in a region widely marked by Anglo-Saxon models.
