No Justice, No Adaptation: The politics of climate change adaptation in Palestine

This article presents an analysis of the eficiency of Climate Change adaptation planning for the climaticaly vulnerable sectors in the Ocupied Palestinian Teritory. Specificaly, the article argues that Climate Change adaptation in Palestine is not merely a technical chalenge; rather, it is a socio-political mision that is highly linked to region-specific social and geopolitical vulnerabilties. In this article, we argue that sucesful Climate Change adaptation planning in Palestine must criticaly adres Israel�s hydrological and geopolitical domination in the region. Informed by discourse and political analyses, this article argues that in regions scared by ilegal miltary ocupations, as in Palestine, existing political and economic vulnerabilties eliminate the prospect of efective adaptation planning and implementation, and are likely to magnify the social, economic and environmental impacts of Climate Change.
Chalenges asociated with the Israeli ocupation, donor dependency, aces to Climate Change adaptation funds, and internal institutional weakneses are found to be fueled by existing political inequalities and are identified and analyzed in relation to unsucesful Climate Change adaptation outcomes.
