Resumen de La lucha contemporánea por el espacio en la obra de Carl Schmitt

El presente artículo revisa la teoría de la evolución histórica de Carl Schmitt, usando como hilo conductor sus escritos sobre el concepto de nomos. En ellos se distinguen los estadios históricos por un modo específico de ordenar el territorio y un particular imaginario colectivo sobre el espacio, elementos que tienen consecuencias jurídicas, políticas y militares. En base a ese esquema, se revisa la «gran revolución espacial» que Schmitt situó en los siglos XVI y XVII.
Luego se discuten las particularidades del estadio histórico contemporáneo, iniciado según el autor en el siglo XX, pero difusamente caracterizado a lo largo de su obra. Se postula que, para Schmitt, la etapa actual de la historia universal es identificada principalmente por la apropiación de grandes terrenos industriales y una comprensión del espacio como campo de fuerzas en donde la humanidad despliega su energía, actividad y esfuerzo.

In this article I review the theory of historical evolution of Carl Schmitt, by referencing his writings on the concept of nomos. In these studies, he distinguishes historical stages by a specific way of ordering the land and a particular collective imaginary about space, elements that have legal, political and military consequences. Based on this scheme, I review "the great space revolution" that Schmitt established between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Then, I discuss the particularities of contemporary historical stage, that according to the author started in the twentieth century, but is diffusely characterized throughout his work. I postulate that, for Schmitt, the current stage of world history is identified mainly by the appropriation of large industrial lands and an understanding of space as a field of forces in which humanity expands its energy, activity and effort.
