At the beginning of World War II, the United States faced a severe shortage of rubber. In addition to development of synthetic rubber, rubber reclamation contributed to success in meeting this need. This "From Past Issues" revisits a 1942 article on rubber reclamation by the Marks process, which was predominant in the first half of the 20th century.
