A review of Johann Baptist Fickler. Das Inventar der Münchner herzoglichen Kunstkammer von 1598. Editionsband. Transkription der lnventarhandschrift cgm 2133 (editor Peter Diemer). In the 16th century, the Dukes of Bavaria were important art collectors, especially Albrecht V and his son Wilhelm V. When Maximilian I came to power, he commissioned his former tutor Johann Baptist Fickler to draw up an inventory of the collection. The inventory is now held in Munich library. This scientific edition of the inventory, annotated with a complete transcription, is impeccable, the only cavil being the retention of the original spelling.
