Resumen de Brunelleschis Oratorium von Santa Maria degli Angeli zwischen liturgischer Nutzung und architektonischem Anspruch

Anna Syed

  • The commission to design the Oratory of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Florence, Italy, may have given Filippo Brunelleschi an opportunity to implement his ideas without having to make many concessions. A need for additional sacred spaces aside, the elevation of the monastery's prestige certainly played a role in the decision to build such a secondary structure in a particularly prominent area of the city and to commission its design from such a leading architect. This commission offered him a unique opportunity to implement the idea of a central construction that may have already matured in him earlier while allowing him to make a freer choice of the architectural form.
