Susanne Deicher
The writer discusses philosophical fragments on order in architecture which were developed by architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel during a tour of Italy in the winter of 1803/04. In particular, she considers these theoretical fragments, and the aesthetic issues they address, in the context of the thinking of the philosopher Wilhelm von Humboldt, whom Schinkel met in Rome and with whom he enjoyed lifelong cooperation.
