  • In 1909, architectural historian Ernst Gall went on a trip to Normandy, mainly to study northern French medieval architecture. Gall's Norman studies and the resulting publications established him in his career in Germany. In the light of a reconstruction of Gall's personal photo archive, the writer considers the influence of his travels and photographic work in France on his later work.
