O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar discursos produzidos por monges, cônegos regulares e clérigos seculares a respeito do espaço, do ambiente e do propósito de vida monásticos, em meio aos debates e disputas acirradas sobre a função pastoral dos monges e a emergência de formas renovadas da vita religiosa, nos séculos XI e XII.

The aim of this article is to present speeches produced by monks, canons regular and secular clergy about the monastic space, ambience and way of life amidst the bitter disputes and debates about the monastic pastoral role and the emergence of renewed forms of vita religiosa in the eleventh and twelfth centuries.
