Resumen de El Muschelkalk del sondeo Jaraco-1 (SE de España)

Wenceslao Martínez del Olmo

  • The Jaraco-1 well has a regionally abnormal thick section (1,000 ft) of the carbonates type Muschelkalk. A carefully revision of the lithology and sedimentary data, allow to interpreted two transgressive (TST) and two regressive (HST) sequences inside this Muschelkalk marine carbonate facies. The absence of the bioestratigraphic controls open two different possibilities a) The definition of two minor order Depositional Sequences inside the extensive upper Muschelkalk (MK-3) or b) The definition of a singular external paleogeography where the lower Muschelkalk (MK-1) and the upper Muschelkalk (MK-3) are in continuity without the classic fluvial red facies that regionally represents the Muschelkalk-2. The introducction of four additional wells in the correlation, the relationship of facies and thickness and the extreme similarity of the individual TST-HST of Jaraco-1 well, with the classic Muschelkalk-1 and 3 of the Mediterranean spanish province, allow to adopt the previous second interpretation. That means the location of the well in a local sin-sedimentary subsiding trough or in a very more external paleogeography, that supposed, by the Prebetic-zone.
