The Triassic carbonates wich outcrops in the sourroundings of Jalance (Valencia, Southwestern Iberian Range, Spain) has been previously interpreted as belonging to the lower and upper Muschelkalk. The presence of outcrops of Lower Muschelkalk (Fm Dolomías de Landete) in the area is difficult to explain according to the current tectonic models. A detailed study of lower and upper Muschelkalk in two separte section close to Jalance shows that both contains similar stratigraphic features, and are of the same age because presence of the conodont Pseudofurnishius murcianus BOOGAAD. As conclusion we suggest that both sections belongs to the same flank of a thrusted antiform structure.
