  • The writer discusses Two witches performing an incantation in an abandoned building (1605), a newly discovered drawing by Jacques de Gheyn II in the Bodleian Library in Oxford, England. This large pen drawing was part of the 1834 bequest of the English antiquary Francis Douce to the Bodleian Library. By virtue of its subject matter, stylistic features, and signature, it is clearly an unknown work by De Gheyn. The writer discusses the drawing in detail and outlines the evidence in support of the attribution.
