  • The article discusses the 15th-century altarpiece painted by Zanobi Machiavelli for the church of Badia Fiesolana in Italy. The author describes the Medici family's 15th-century patronage of the church but suggests that Florentine merchant Battista di Francesco di Benedetto Strozzi, part of the Strozzi family, was the patron of the altarpiece. The author describes a 1459 letter about a dispute over Machiavelli's failure to finish the altarpiece.
