The article discusses the c. 1507 painting "Flight into Egypt," by Titian, part of the collection of the State Hermitage Museum in Russia. The author describes 16th-century art historian Giorgio Vasari's description of the painting and traces its attribution and provenance. The author suggests that the painting was originally intended to depict the Adoration in a landscape, as conceived by the artist Giorgione. Also discussed is the conservation and X-radiography of the painting.
