Resumen de The iconography of 'Saint' Edward II
The article examines the iconography behind illustrated and artistic works representing King Edward II, who reigned in England between 1307-1327. Particular focus is given to images that depict King Edward II as a saint, which were most often produced between the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. Several artworks are examined in detail including a painted panel from the 15th-century, a sculpture from the 16th century and a calligraphic passage referring to Edward II's death.
