  • Resumen
    • An article examining the early drawings of the artist Govert Flink, which show the influence of Rembrandt, in whose studio Flink was active for an unknown period, probably in the mid 1630s. While Flink's early paintings clearly show the influence of Rembrandt, most of the drawings that are traditionally attributed to him were executed at a later period, after 1642, when Flink's draftsmanship was more individualized. This article focuses on the Rembrandtesque features found in works including Flink's earliest signed and dated drawing (from 1638), as well as chalk figure studies from the second half of the 1630s and compositional studies in chalk. While there are no known signed Rembrandtesque pen drawings by Flink, the author examines a selection of drawings inscribed with his name which bear a stylistic similarity to Rembrandt's work.
