Resumen de More on Francesco Salviati as a Copyist
A discussion of two areas of interest to Francesco Salviati as a copyist. To date, no stronger candidate has been advanced to dethrone Salviati as the most wide-ranging, adventurous, compulsive, and insolent copyist of his generation. The areas of interest discussed are the figure drawings of Parmigianino, and the landscape vision of two leading painters of Raphael's school, Polidoro da Caravaggio and Giulio Romano. The four drawn copies under discussion were all made fairly early in Salviati's career, before the beginning of his third Florentine period (1539–41). They display various facets of his work and personality, but all of them are among his more sober copies.
