Resumen de The Spanish Origins of the Marqués del Carpio's Collection of Drawings

María López-Fanjul Díez del Corral

  • The writer discusses the Spanish origins of the collection of drawings assembled by Don Gaspar de Haro y Guzmán, 7th Marqués del Carpio. Recent studies of the Marqués del Carpio have focused entirely on his collecting activities in Naples, particularly his formation of 43 albums of drawings. The great majority of his life was spent on the Iberian Peninsula, however, and it was there that he started his collection of drawings at a time when interest in the theory and acquisition of drawings was just beginning to take root.
