  • Resumen
    • The writer identifies some drawings previously attributed to Donato Creti (1671–1749) as the work of an artist he calls “Amico di Donato.” He explains that, having studied firsthand many of the more than 1,000 drawings currently given to Creti, he has concluded that the attributions of many are unreliable. Noting that many of the works in the artist's over-large oeuvre are simply not of the high quality that is to be expected for such a virtuoso, he argues that at times, it is possible to recognize and isolate a distinctive hand, even though a specific alternative name cannot be suggested. He goes on to to argue that this is the case of a coherent group of some 56 sheets, many double-sided, that he identifies as being by “Amico di Donato.” An appendix of these works completes the article.
