The article discusses an Attic black-figured column-krater in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The author describes the krater's depiction of the myth of the Return of Hephaistos to Olympos, as well as satyrs, nymphs, and the myth of Herakles driving the cattle of Geryon. The author traces the representation of the Return of Hephaistos in Attic vase painting and describes each fragment of the krater, including those depicting the myths of Philoposia and Molpaios, Hephaistos on the mule, Dionysos, and the inebriated satyr. Also discussed is the attribution of the vase.
