Resumen de "All the serious men are sick": van Doesburg, Mondrian and Dada

Craig Eliason

  • Theo van Doesburg's alter ego as Dutch Dadaist poet I. K. Bonset allowed him to launch a critical attack on Piet Mondrian before the oft-cited break of the mid 1920s and their stories argument over the diagonal. It was Van Doesburg who pushed Mondrian toward Dadaism, though Mondrian eventually realized that his interest in the movement was a passing enthusiasm and not a lasting engagement. Bonset came into being following Van Doesburg's return from visiting Mondrian in Paris in 1920. In a number of unpublished poems of the period, such as “Aux hommes sérieux” and “Manifesto 69,” there are references to and attacks on Mondrian.
