  • The essay analyzes the study and translation of Renaissance-era writings on architecture and architectural theory in the Soviet Union during the reign of Soviet leader Josef Stalin. The project was authorized by the Central Committee of the Communist Party. The author compares the project to the study of Renaissance architectural treatises in Western Europe. He states that he is mainly interested in the scholarly content of the project.
