    • The main body of the article outlines a simple series of steps to transform virtually any organic molecule that is depicted in 2D into its corresponding straight-chain (or zig–zag) conformation. Further to this, a small extension to this algorithm enables one to transform virtually any organic compound given in 2D into any other conformation in 2D. Extremely useful to students, teachers, and practitioners of organic chemistry, such a method is sure to be embraced owing to its ease of utility and its broad applicability.
