Tivizay Molina de González Méndez

  • Gastrointestinal mucous membrane produces a big quantity of prostaglandins (PG), several of them having a cytoprotective and antiinflammatory action. NSAID's block cyclooxigenase activity, and thus, PG synthesis. Tobacco al so has this later action al so enhancing thromboxane synthesis. Certain PG's are powerful enhancers of mucus production, active sodium transporl, liposomal activity, AMPc synthesis and integrity of mucous membrane. A diet rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 series of essential fatty acids can enhance endogenous PG synthesis.
