Reflex zone therapy is a special foot massage (created by Dr. Fitzgerald and developed by Hanne Marquardt) very useful as pain reliever in terminal cancer patients. We can use techniques like counterside treatment, back-fornt and up-down massage. In counterside massage, we aplly the masage in the opposite side of pain, in back-front we can apply it, e.g., in the inguinal zone for lumbar vertebrae, and in the up-down we have several relationships like kneeelbow, dorsal-hip and wristle-ankle, as if the person were folded over itself. We can observe adverse reactions like sweating, tachycardia, cold or hot sensatio'ns, usually derived of neurovegetative reactions, that indicate that we must stop the treatment. Reflex zone therapy is very useful in controlling the adverse reactions of chínmiotherapy. Usually, we apply sedating techniques, and is not recommended to stimulate the lymphatic system.
