Since the eighteenth century, and with the objective of monopolizing medical practice, the Hegemonic Medica! Model or MMH ( Modelo Médico Hegemónico: E.L. Menéndez, 1984) has opposed alternative systems, frorn the medical practices of earlier periods to contemporary alternative European (and American) models, such as Natural Medicine or Homlopathy. Armed with documents such as the Flexner Report (a direct attack on the American School of Homolpathy and other medica! schools - USA 1910), opposition at the beginning of the present century used legislation to exclude these alternative models and obstruit their development:This article examines the articulations and bridging points between the Hegemonic Medical Model and the so-called Alternativa Models, from the moment of their foundation as medical models to the present day.
